Why now?
Latin America has yet to fulfill its potential as a strategic U.S. partner, in part by deep structural development gaps: access to credit, education, infrastructure, and basic services, which breed instability and underperformance.
What is the relationship between nearshoring and Latin America?
Asia was U.S. ‘reliable’ partner, but COVID-19 exposed the weaknesses of the “Asia produces, America consumes” model. Companies and governments want to diversify and, in many cases, decouple from Asia. This is a unique opportunity for AIF to invest in this transition.
If I'm a social enterprise, why should I work with AIF?
Three reasons: (i) we make microfinance funding faster, using our deep knowledge expertise in the sector; (ii) we finance high-impact sectors most funds ignore such as health, education, internet and water; and (iii) we are capturing nearshoring demand over the next few years.
Which impact indicators is AIF looking to promote?
Impact Indicators: Poverty reduction, improved livelihoods, and climate resilience. Outcome indicators: household income, access to essential services, higher productivity, price premiums. Outcome Indicators: communities impacted, number of social enterprises, capital deployed, capacity-building
